Yellow Crow Mead

About Us

Meet the Mazer

Jayne’s passion for crafting MEAD stems from roots in beer and wine home-brewing. Her artistic abilities now shine when it comes to experimenting with copious combinations. A ten year background as a Dental Hygienist is the perfect compliment to achieving a hygienic fermentation process which creates a truly superior product that can be seen and tasted. As a life long Connecticut resident she is excitedly devoted to bringing Yellow Crow Meadery to life with the love and support from her husband Ryan and three boys.

Vision

To create delicious mead using locally sourced high quality ingredients.

To this end, we use:

  • Oak barrels - hand made by a local cooperage out of New York - his name is John

  • Honey - locally produced in regional apiaries. Our favorite so far is Merrimack Valley Apiaries located in Massachusetts.

  • Bottles - made from glass in the domestic USA (not Alaska or Hawaii).

  • Water - it was made about 4 million years ago.

  • Yeast - many varieties for a range of purposes to make yummy alcohol.

  • Fruits/herbs/vegetables - local Connecticut orchards and farms - mostly their seconds which would normally be discarded,
